2 Guns: Another Graphic Novel Brought to Life

The stream of graphic-novel-turned-into-movies is yet to end now that 2 Guns is under development. The film that stars Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg is set for release in 2013. Wahlberg reunites with director Baltasar Kormakur; they worked together in the box office hit Contraband which was released recently. The original story is written by Steven Grant and illustrated by Mat Santolouco. TV writer Blake Masters will adapt the graphic novel into film. Production is yet to be scheduled because financing is still currently under negotiation. The producers are Ross Richie, Andrew Cosby, and Marc Platt.

movie 2 gunsThe story of 2 Guns is about a naval intelligence officer and a DEA agent. They unknowingly investigate each other while trying to steal money from the mob. The problem is that they do not know that they are actually being set up to steal the good sum, not from the mob but from the CIA. Who plays the specific role is yet to be announced.

It is interesting to note that Washington's latest movie, Safe House, has just been released. Apart from it, he has just finished working with Robert Zemeckis in another film entitled Flight. It looks like we are going to see a lot of Denzel in the following months. And since we have mentioned another Denzel Washington movie, it would be nice to tell something about it too.

Flight is about a problematic commercial airliner pilot who pulls of a sully-like landing that saves the passengers. To his surprise, his dark secrets are revealed. On the other hand, Safe House is about a CIA agent who is assigned to oversee a fugitive in a safe house. The agent finds himself running with his charge after the safe house is attacked.

Moving on, Wahlberg was probably chosen for the role because of his badass performance in Contraband. Of course, the credits should go to director Kormakur too. Contraband is the story of a retired smuggler who goes to Panama to gain millions of dollars through counterfeit bills.

That is for the purpose of protecting his wife's brother from a drug kingpin. Contraband is a remake of Reykjavik-Rotterdam, a 2008 Icelandic film where Kormakur is part of the main cast.

There are high expectations from 2 Guns, primarily because of two action heroes and a promising director. The cast of the movie is yet to be announced so be sure to check for updates. Eventually, you will get to see the trailer of 2 Guns 2013. As of now, watch out for news about the release date and other specific details – there still more to come. The filmmakers have more time to prepare and make the fans more excited.

There are lots of things to look forward to on the silver screen. If you are a fan of graphic novels, you will surely find a treat in this movie. Adapting graphic novels into films is a trend that is yet to cease. It is indeed a delight to see your favorite comic hero being brought into life – that is what 2 Guns is about to give.
